Atlanta Franchise Buyers - 2016 in Review

In 2016 our team at FranNet of Atlanta helped individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds launch their entrepreneurial careers through franchise ownership.
How exciting it is to witness new franchisees spread their wings and pursue their goals, dreams and passions! We want you to meet them to help you
answer the question...
Will 2017 will be your year to take flight in your own business?
What’s Your Why? Through 18 years of aiding prospective franchise owners, I’ve discovered a prevalent common denominator among those
opting to diverge from their “known” and “secure” universe, which is often receiving a regular paycheck employed in the corporate world.
No matter their personal background or industry expertise, their reasons for wanting to be in business for themselves are stronger and more important to them than their FEAR of change.
They have no “super power” and they weren’t born with an extra entrepreneurial chromosome, but their drive to be successful business owners outweighs their
natural fear of trying something different. Let’s look at a few of our clients’ compelling motives. Do any of these sound familiar to you?
Who ARE These People?
- V.P of Sales and Business Development survived two downsizings but knew there would be more and wanted to take control of his own destiny.
- Former Staffing Manager for one of Atlanta’s largest employers came to us wanting to be the one reaping the lion’s share of the rewards for his hard
- Previously employed as an IT Architect with a major international corporation, one client wanted to be in control of her own schedule, travel less
and spend more time with family.
They now proudly call themselves “franchise owners”, but came from completely different backgrounds, positions like...
How “Experienced” Are They?
- VP of Sales & Business Development
- Director of HR Strategy
- Construction Analyst
- Project Coordinator
- VP of Finance
- Preschool Teacher
- Sr. Global Market Research Manager
- Chief Information Officer
- Chief Financial Officer
- Staffing Manager
- Management Consultant
- Administrative Assistant
- IT Architect
- Interim CEO
- Real Estate Agent
We helped people as young as 25 and as old as 69. The average age was 49 years young! A growing trend in our business is multi-generational ownership
; we’re seeing more baby boomers and their millennial adult children teaming up and launching
their franchise businesses together. I love working with family clients because that’s how I got started
and I feel I have a lot of meaningful help I can give.
Where Did They Come From?
What matters most is where they are going. But for the record, we’ve helped people who’ve exited or who continue to work at some of the largest and most
respected employers such as...
Where Are They Now?
- The Coca-Cola Company
- Sprint-Nextel, Inc.
- Morgan Stanley
- Kaiser Permanente
- Kimberly-Clark Corporation
- Northwestern Mutual
- Emory University
- The Home Depot
- Delta Airlines
They’re utilizing talents cultivated in their previous jobs to create and control their own success in their own business. Here’s a few of the franchise
categories where they found their fit...
- Marketing Communications
- Senior & Disabled Advocacy
- Music Education
- Rental Real Estate
- Health Food Cafe
- Boutique Fitness
- Moving & Storage
- Commercial Building Maintenance
- Specialty Pet Products
- Education & Tutoring
- HVAC Services
Did you notice most of the franchise business categories chosen had nothing to do with their former industries of employ? That’s because there is no prior
industry experience required (or often wanted) in franchising! Most people want to spread their wings by trying something new and franchising loves your
transferrable skills, not your employer’s name or industry.
You have the skills, so will you take flight in 2017?
You don’t have to decide right now, but do give me a call
